Submarine Cable Map

TeleGeography’s popular Submarine Cable Map has been fully updated for 2010. The latest edition of our map depicts 111 of the world’s major submarine cable systems and 19 planned systems that are due to enter service by 2011.

Cable Landing Sites
Insets provide detailed information about submarine cable landing sites in critical regions including New York/New Jersey, Southern Florida, Cornwall, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

Key Industry Data
Information graphics and tables present a wealth of data about cable networks and the state of the submarine cable industry. The 2010 Submarine Cable Map includes the following tables and graphics:
  • Map of global lit submarine cable capacity (shown below)
  • Submarine cable constructions costs (1997-2011)
  • A comparison of lit versus potential capacity on major submarine cable routes (Trans-Atlantic, Trans-Pacific, U.S.-Latin America, Intra-Asia, Europe-Asia)
  • STM-1 price trends on key intercontinental routes (2005-2009)
  • A comparison of the lit capacity of active systems
  • Graphic analyzing trans-Atlantic capacity utilization
  • Regional capacity growth (1999-2009)
  • Table of active intra-regional European cable systems
  • Summary of planned submarine cable systems

Data presented in the map is drawn from TeleGeography’s authoritative Global Bandwidth Research Service and Global Bandwidth Forecast Service.
The map is printed on Yupo, a high quality synthetic material, and measures 36" x 50" (0.9m x 1.2m). The map is available flat and shipped in a tube (recommended for framing or hanging on a wall) or folded (for more convenient storage and transportation). Heat mounting is not recommended.
